Yun Tun Mee

Posted by CyberTron on Apr 06, 2009 12:07AM
The last time I came to this coffee shop to try out the charcoal hokkien mee, saw this wanton mee stall that supposed to have some award. As I was around the area, decided to give it a try this time.

Ordered the dry wanton mee ($2.50). For a start, the noodle was not that great. In fact, I would like my noodle a little softer or cooked a little longer though. The soup was not those standard plain soup with pepper, not too bad, but that's about all for this wanton mee. Think I would just go to the one nearer to my house at Joo Chiat Place at the coffee shop where the Eng Seng pepper crab is.

My last 2 trips there this year was kinda disappointing as well. First time, somewhere near CNY, a lot of seafood was sold out, even the beer! Thought cos we were there late, so the next time we decided to get there earlier, and this time, the crab where sold out! Service was also very slow and not enuff people to serve the customers. Food wise, I think price is still ok, but I think the food is not longer as good as when it was less well known.... planning to try senibong next round...

Have not been to Jogoya before, but I've been to the Gonbei opposite. Priced similarly to Jogoya if not wrong, and I thought the service and food was pretty good.

I went with 7 adults and 1 kid, we spent less than $120. I would safely hazard a guess of $18 - $25 per person, depending on how hungry you get. Real value for money for quality food.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.
