It's west for dinner today :). Decided to go to this place called "Yi Bao" at Holland Village for dinner with my colleague. This place supposed to served Ipoh dishes like Ipoh hor fun, etc. I ordered the Hokkien Noodle, while my colleague ordered Yi Bao Fried Bee Hoon. We also ordered Sotong Paste Yu Tiao, Sambal Kang Kong and Rob Rib Watercress Soup to share. Inclusive of drinks, the bill came up to $35.95, not too bad, as each dish was average $6-8. For the food, I find the food average, while I found my Hokkien Noodle a bit salty, while I tried my colleague's bee hoon, and found it got a very strong pork taste. Overall, the food is average, with no special dish that really stand out that makes it memorable.

So far, for cheap and good, I think Yan Palace get my vote. :)

I'm not crazy about song fish head, but I'm very particular about the food freshness & tastiness, esp for seafood, freshness is very important to me. ^o^

I think their high tea buffet is around $18+++ if not wrong. Unless one eats a lot, else might be cheaper to eat ala carte at yan palace or something.

If ya like song fish head, I think ya should give the one at Albert Street temporary food centre (next to bugis mrt) a try. When I pass by or grab my meals there, I always see old couples ordering the fish head there. :)
As for chinatown, there's so many stalls selling that dish, frankly, I'm not sure which is the best one there though :)
