My friend wanted to go Sim Lim Square to buy something, so we ended up at this restaurant at Burlington Square. I guess for those who frequent Sim Lim Square will probably be familiar with this place. A few times I walk pass during the evening, saw it was usually quite crowded. I've actually been there quite a long while back.
When we arrive there around 6+, it was still not full, but the inside was probably 80-90% full already. We ordered at claypot bean curd ($10), prawn paste chicken ($10) and a claypot curry fish slice ($12). Total bill inclusive of tea and rice came up to $38.09. There's also no service charge, just GST.
Even though it was crowded, the food was served pretty fast. The food here is pretty good. The curry for the fish slice was actually quite nice to eat with the rice. :) Though I find the fish slice slightly rubbery and a bit little though. I guess if the fish is too tender, it will probably "dissolved" in the curry. The prawn paste chicken was pretty good too, while the bean curd was decent.
Overall, the food here is pretty good (probably give it a 3.5 star), though price might be just slightly on the higher side. However, the auntie that served us was quite friendly too.

In Singapore, not too hard to find good dim sum, it is cheap and good that's hard to find...hahaha...
So far, for cheap and good, I think Yan Palace get my vote. :)

I'm not crazy about song fish head, but I'm very particular about the food freshness & tastiness, esp for seafood, freshness is very important to me. ^o^

I think their high tea buffet is around $18+++ if not wrong. Unless one eats a lot, else might be cheaper to eat ala carte at yan palace or something.

If ya like song fish head, I think ya should give the one at Albert Street temporary food centre (next to bugis mrt) a try. When I pass by or grab my meals there, I always see old couples ordering the fish head there. :)
As for chinatown, there's so many stalls selling that dish, frankly, I'm not sure which is the best one there though :)
