Decided to come here for dinner today as I need to go to Ang Mo Kio after that. This is the first time we been to this place, and previously, we've been visiting the one at Old Airport Road.
As usual, I ordered my $8 big prawn mee, while my friend ordered the $5 one. This place also served other dishes as well, and we ordered some ngoh hiang ($4.60) to share. For a start, for my $8 portion, at Old Airport Road, the prawn is usually served in a separate bowl with the noodle. I find the portion is smaller compared to the Old Airport Road. My friend also felt the Old Airport Road was better too. However, she feels the ngoh hiang here was pretty nice. I think it taste similar to the one at East Coast Road one, except the variety is actually less. The chilli for the ngoh hiang is pretty good too.
Overall, the prawn noodle here is decent, and probably deserves a 3.5 star.

So far, for cheap and good, I think Yan Palace get my vote. :)

I'm not crazy about song fish head, but I'm very particular about the food freshness & tastiness, esp for seafood, freshness is very important to me. ^o^

I think their high tea buffet is around $18+++ if not wrong. Unless one eats a lot, else might be cheaper to eat ala carte at yan palace or something.

If ya like song fish head, I think ya should give the one at Albert Street temporary food centre (next to bugis mrt) a try. When I pass by or grab my meals there, I always see old couples ordering the fish head there. :)
As for chinatown, there's so many stalls selling that dish, frankly, I'm not sure which is the best one there though :)
