The top floor of Hereen been recently renovated with new restaurants moved there. There's actually 2 Waraku there actually, one is the Waraku, while the other is Pasta de Waraku, which sells mainly Japanese style pasta, sort of a fusion of italian with japanese style, which is getting popularly recently. Both are located side by side, with deco looking very similar too, so dun walk into the wrong one :)
I ordered a seafood udon (chanpon udon - $14.80), while my friends ordered a potato mentai ($8.80) and a tereyaki chicken pizza ($6.80). Total bill inclusive of 3 green tea came up to $39.31.
Overall, I find my udon pretty nice, and pretty like the thick soup that came with it, though I find my friend's pizza and potato a little small in portion though. The food at Waraku is generally pretty decent, and reasonably priced too. Sometimes I find the menu selection a bit overwhelming. :)

So far, for cheap and good, I think Yan Palace get my vote. :)

I'm not crazy about song fish head, but I'm very particular about the food freshness & tastiness, esp for seafood, freshness is very important to me. ^o^

I think their high tea buffet is around $18+++ if not wrong. Unless one eats a lot, else might be cheaper to eat ala carte at yan palace or something.

If ya like song fish head, I think ya should give the one at Albert Street temporary food centre (next to bugis mrt) a try. When I pass by or grab my meals there, I always see old couples ordering the fish head there. :)
As for chinatown, there's so many stalls selling that dish, frankly, I'm not sure which is the best one there though :)
