Friend wanted to have some dim sum for brunch, and been reading about this place, so decided to give this a try. We ordered some of the standard dim sum stuff like har gao, siew mai, pork rubs, etc. However, both of us is really disappointed with the dim sum. First, the price was pretty expensive, averaging btw $3-6 per item. Either they have a bad day or something, we totally did not enjoy any bit of it. I was joking with my friend the most edible item was the chinese tea. Usually I'm not too picky on my food, but I think I can get better dim sum or cheaper price at Yan Palace or Swee Choon. Anyway, just dun understand why so many actually find this place nice. And yes, it cost us $30.40, more expensive than our dinner at Joe's Kitchen...

So far, for cheap and good, I think Yan Palace get my vote. :)

I'm not crazy about song fish head, but I'm very particular about the food freshness & tastiness, esp for seafood, freshness is very important to me. ^o^

I think their high tea buffet is around $18+++ if not wrong. Unless one eats a lot, else might be cheaper to eat ala carte at yan palace or something.

If ya like song fish head, I think ya should give the one at Albert Street temporary food centre (next to bugis mrt) a try. When I pass by or grab my meals there, I always see old couples ordering the fish head there. :)
As for chinatown, there's so many stalls selling that dish, frankly, I'm not sure which is the best one there though :)
