Wah Lok Restaurant

Read from a blogger site that the char siew su was nice here, and my colleague is fan of char siew su, decided to come here for our Friday lunch today :) The place was full when we were there, but we got a seat pretty fast. We ordered the usual stuff like har gao, siew mai, etc. We also ordered a hor fun. The hor fun was pretty good with prawns and scallops, however, at $20 a plate, might be a bit pricey, as it was around $4 for a small bowl. Each item average around $3-4 (compare to a well know dim sum place at geylang that charges the same and is absolute crap), with the cheong fun at $5.40. The pickle was special, which consist of lotus root, char siew and long beans i think, and was very good. However, the cost $3 each though. My colleagues all love the char siew su. Total we ordered 14 items + hor fun for the 5 of us, the bill came up to $116.75. Overall, the food is very nice and price is pretty reasonable (more expensive than yan palace, but probably similarly priced compare to most dim sum places). Will probably be going back more often.

My last 2 trips there this year was kinda disappointing as well. First time, somewhere near CNY, a lot of seafood was sold out, even the beer! Thought cos we were there late, so the next time we decided to get there earlier, and this time, the crab where sold out! Service was also very slow and not enuff people to serve the customers. Food wise, I think price is still ok, but I think the food is not longer as good as when it was less well known.... planning to try senibong next round...

Have not been to Jogoya before, but I've been to the Gonbei opposite. Priced similarly to Jogoya if not wrong, and I thought the service and food was pretty good.

I went with 7 adults and 1 kid, we spent less than $120. I would safely hazard a guess of $18 - $25 per person, depending on how hungry you get. Real value for money for quality food.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.
