Came here for a late lunch around 3pm today, and surprise the place was like nearly full house even at that hour.
We found our table and started to order. Ordered some of the usual dim sum stuff like har gaw and siew mai, cheong fun, lotus leaf glutinous rice, char siew bun and char siew su. Some of the more special ones we ordered was the har mai (a cross btw har gao and siew mai), mango spring roll, prawn and banana in dragon beard, and scallop seaweed dumpling.
One thing to note for first timers, the portion here is really BIG! The char siew su is probably the biggest I've ever eaten. Is probably 2 - 3 times the size you find at Wah Lok or Royal China. The dumplings etc are all pretty big compare to those you typically find.
As for the taste, I would think the dim sum is generally not bad, but a major problem are the dim sum are not piping hot, and is only slighly warm. Even our tea at the end of the whole lunch was hotter than the dim sum served. If the dim sum are served hot, I would have rated this a 3.5 star, else, I think I will give this just an average 3 star. I felt all the dim sum (which can turn out pretty good) are spoilt by it is not reheated when ordered.
Price wise, for all we ordered, the total bill came up to $34.45 inclusive of tea and towels, which is reasonable consider the amount we ordered.
Overall, if one is willing to walk a bit more, you probably might be better off at Yan Palace, else you might want to give this a try, provided if you know the dim sum are just prepared and piping hot.
BTW, I also noticed quite a lot of people ordering the claypot porridge there as well, so you might want to check that out if you happen to be there.

My last 2 trips there this year was kinda disappointing as well. First time, somewhere near CNY, a lot of seafood was sold out, even the beer! Thought cos we were there late, so the next time we decided to get there earlier, and this time, the crab where sold out!
Service was also very slow and not enuff people to serve the customers.
Food wise, I think price is still ok, but I think the food is not longer as good as when it was less well known.... planning to try senibong next round...

Have not been to Jogoya before, but I've been to the Gonbei opposite. Priced similarly to Jogoya if not wrong, and I thought the service and food was pretty good.

I went with 7 adults and 1 kid, we spent less than $120. I would safely hazard a guess of $18 - $25 per person, depending on how hungry you get. Real value for money for quality food.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.
