This is my favourite char koay teow @ Penang. The stall used to be located @ Lorong selamat, but now move to a coffee shop opposite Honolulu Café which previously is Federal Cinema (Lian Bang Cinema).
The stalls open from morning till afternoon around 3pm..and be prepare to wait as the queue is always long. The regular char koay teow cost RM4.50 per plate (got two big prawns) where as the special char koay teow cost RM8 per plate (got 4 big prawns and 2-3 pieces of mantis prawns).
We ordered 1 regular one with duck egg (Additional 50 cents for this) and 1 special one. Hmmm..i must say the price is a bit expensive as the serving is quite small..but i feel is worth it as the prawn is really huge!!
If you happen to be in Penang or visit Penang, dun forget try this!! A must try if u loves Penang fried koay teow!

Lei Garden Dim Sum
Dim sum is my favourite..so decided to try this dim sum @ lei garden couple of weeks ago.Read from reviews tat this place is always full..but surprisingly when i reached the restaurant around 12, it was quite empty.
We ordered :
Siew Mai with black mushrooms ($3.5),
Steamed Shrimps Dumpling ($4.3),
鲍汁华生鸡脚 ($6),
BBQ Pork Pie (叉烧酥, $3.5),
荷香珍珠鸡 ($4.3),
Daily soup ($14).
The siew mai was tasty!, very strong mushrooms taste :)..The Steamed Shrimps Dumpling (Har gao) was quite nice too..According to my fren, 鲍汁华生鸡脚 (strongly recommended by the waitress) was very delicious..Sorry, i cant comment on this dish as i dun eat chicken leg :P . The BBQ pork pie was yummy too.. but the serving was very small, wish the pie can be slighly bigger..:( I like the 荷香珍珠鸡 too..as it contained salted egg inside **drool**
Overall, the dim sum here was quite nice..but just a bit pricey! Think i will go yan palace more often as the price there is more reasonable and yet the dim sum is nice too.

香港旺角
Went to this hong kong cafe during my malacca trip...Ordered Curry fishballs, Lotus rice & baked rice. The curry fishballs was quite nice as the curry gravy was quite nice and thick..at least better than the one i tried @ Singapore.. The lotus rice and the baked rice were average...However, i think i wont come back to this cafe for second time...and the reason is... i found houseflies inside my ice milo!!!!!!!!! and i still say the ice milo nice b4 i saw the fly!! Sob sob...Although the manager gave 10% discount as compensation..but but i dun think i will go back again.

"The Best Nyonya Food In Town"
Another malacca review !!! Went to malacca last week and went to this peranakan restaurant to have my dinner.
This peranakan restaurant is just opposite the ole sayang restaurant...quite easy to find.
We ordered Rendang Ayam (Chicken, RM 10), Ikan goreng CHili (Deep fried fish with chili, RM 32), Vege (RM 6), Satay bean curd (RM 10) and Itik tim (Duck & salted vege soup, RM 12). The Rendang Ayam was the best!!! The gravy was very nice and fragrant!! (FYI, The gravy was not spicy type!! so dun worry if u cannot eat spicy food).
The vege was normal but was a bit spicy as it was fried with sambal. The fried fish was quite nice actually , just that i dun really like the gravy..The satay bean curd was yummy too.. the gravy was satay gravy and put on the steam bean curd..delicious! The itik tim was great! The soup was really sour and i finished them!!! :P
Total bill came at RM 80++..Personally, i will prefer this restaurant than Ole Sayang ! (will rate 4.5 stars for this) Give this a try if u happen to be around that area!

136 Hong Kong Street Fish Head Steamboat 香港街魚頭爐
Went to this place for dinner a few days ago. When we reached the place, the coffee shop was very crowded, but luckily we managed to find our seat fast!
We ordered medium fish steamboat ($23) , vege ($8) & beancurd ($18)! For our fish steamboat, we ordered fish slices instead of the fish head as my fren dun like fish head steamboat! The fish steamboat was very nice! The soup was sweet and quite delicous!! The fish slices used in the fish soup were fresh too!!! Same like the Nan Hwa Chong fish steamboat, you can request to refill your soup :)
As for the vege, it was just average! Hmmm..the beancurd was quite nice and my fren commented it tasted like mashed potato..hahaha..However, i feel the price for the beancurd was quite expensive!! ( i just need to additional top up $5 to get another fish steamboat ).

Hilltop Garden Restaurant Pte Ltd
Went to this restaurant couple of weeks ago..but i was quite bz (not lazy hor..) so only post the review now.
We ordered a Dinner Set menu which includes Fish Maw Soup, Satay pork rib, Stir Fried Fish Slices with Ginger and Spring Onions, Mushrooms with vege, Cereal prawn, Friend emian and dessert!
The Fish Maw Soup & Satay Pork Rib was very toothsome! The Stir Fried Fish Slices with Ginger and Spring Onions, Mushrooms with vege, Cereal prawn were quite decent too! But as for the emian, i think the noodles was quite soggy , so i dun really like the emian. The desert for tat nite was almond beancurd..Dad said it was quite nice but i dun like the almond smell..so i never eat tat :P
The total bill for tat dinner was $138++. Overall, i think the price was quite reasonable..and this restaurant dun charge for service charge!!!!! :D:D only GST..If u happen to be around tat area..can give this a try :)

马六甲林记沙煲肉骨茶
During my stay in malacca last Saturday, we wanted to eat dim sum for our breakfast. However, when we reached there, I saw an extremely long queue in front of the restaurant (Dim Sum Garden)!!!
As we need to rush back to Singapore (estimated the waiting time for the dim sum going to be more than half an hour), we decided to try the bak kut teh opposite this dim sum restaurant instead!
If i didnt remember wrongly, i have been to this Bak kut teh before.. We ordered Bak kut Teh & yam rice! The Bak kut teh was not peppery soup kind, it was herbal kind. The bak kut teh was really very nice! The soup was quite thick and very delicious!! Besides, when we request for our refill, the refill soup tasted as nice as the first round soup!!
This meal cost us only RM18 (Including drinks!!!!) which i feel is very cheap!! DO try this if you happened to be around that area.
Sorry that i cant provide the full address, it is located near the next to the Tan Kim Hock outlet (Opposite Stamford College). When i tried to google for the address, read a blog that said, this bak kut teh is only available for breakfast as they are sold out before lunch! so if you wanna try this, must be early!

Hoe Kee Chicken Rice (Established in 1962)
Went to malacca during the last weekend and decided to try the Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Ball shop as the chicken rice ball have been featured by countless food magazines, food shows, blogs, newspapers...etc. Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Ball shop is located at the end of Jonker Street and in fact is quite near to the Chung Wah Chicken Rice shop. When i reached Hor kee, the time was around 12:30 and i already saw a very long queue in front of the shop!!!!!! :( As a result, we waited for around 45 minutes to get our seat.
For our lunch, We ordered 1/2 Chicken (RM 14), riceball (RM 2 for 10 rice balls) and cabbages (RM 2). We wanted to order the black bean soup but too bad, all soup were sold out!! (at 1pm++), unbelievable!!! Personally, i liked the rice ball a lot!!! The rice ball was very fragrant and nice!!! i think the rice ball here is nicer than the chung wah chicken rice ball.. The Steam chicken was quite nice too.. worth my 45 minutes wait :D
The total bill for this lunch was around RM 23++ (inclusive of beverages) which i feel quite reasonable!!! I will definitely go back for this :)

Another penang food review ! :P Went to this hawker centre to have my dinner and i was wondering what to eat. Suddenly we saw this stall and saw a long queue so we thought this should be nice.
We ordered the Penang Laksa (cannot remember the price was $2 or $3 ) and Curry noodles . The laksa was quite nice, quite similiar to the penang one..and the curry noodles was quite yummy too..the curry gravy was very fragant! Worth try the assam laksa if you are craving for penang laksa :)

A friend of mine recommended me that this place for good teppanyaki food and decided to give it a try for last saturday dinner :)
When we reached there, the restaurant was quite crowded and we needed to wait for 15 minutes to get the teppanyaki seat. While waiting for the seat, i walked around and i realised that other than japanese food, they are selling indonesian cuisine..(looks like the indonesian restaurant was crowded too)
We ordered Pork($14), salmon($17), scallop ($22), fresh mushroom($5), kailan ($8) for the teppanyaki, garlic rice ($5 each), miso soup($1.7) and sahsimi ($32).
In my opinion, the teppanyak was just average as it isn't very special and the sahsimi was too expensive because the serving was quite small.
According to my friend, who recommended me to this place, told me that their standard has dropped after i shared my experience with her..sad..she said the chef was used to be a japanese but he's left.
However, the view and ambience here was very nice! oh..one thing good about this restautant is there is no 10% service charge..only GST. Getting there might be a bit troublesome unless you drive or take cab, it is located opposite the jurong bird park.
