White Dog Cafe
It's my 3rd time to this cafe, I like the view there as it's facing the sea and sentosa.
Just went there to celebrate my birthday recently, but not very happy for this time.
After we ordered our food, I ask for some ice water. The staffs bring us 2 bottles of ice water, 5 empty glasses, and just leave them there without pouring it out for us.
Then my hubby and brother went out to get a birthday cake for me, and when they bring the cake back and ask the staffs to keep in the fridge 1st and served it later after the meal, they actually refused to put the cake in the fridge and told my brother that no outside food is allowed & if we wanna cut the cake in their cafe, we need to pay a "Corkage Charge" of $10! So my brother had no choice but to bring in the cake and put on the floor.
It's the 1st time in my life that I heard of corkage charge for cake! To my knowledge, corkage charge is only for wine and liquor as the restaurant need to pay license fee for alcohol. After knowing about it, we're not very happy so I didn't take any pictures of the foods that come later after the soups and salad.
The lobster bisque and chicken soup is quite good, but I dun like the mushroom soup.
The salmon is nicely done as requested (medium cooked), and the steak is quite ok too.
The chicken with mango on the menu stated that it's make of chicken thigh but it's texture is like chicken breast, dry and rough.
Baked rice with pork chop is so-so only.
I normally love lamb chop but the lamb chop here have a very strong taste, not to my liking.
Anyway after the meal, we still bring out the cake to cut and after we sang the song, the supervisor came forward and said that they will waived off the corkage charge for us.
I really dun understand why they wanna have corkage charge for cake as when customers celebrate their birthday or other occasions, normally it's with a big group so it means more business, what's the point earning just $10 more and pissed off your customers and they will never return to your cafe?

Shokudo Japanese food bazaar
A new place to hang out with friends! Same concept as the Marche but with a Japanese food theme.
I've been there 2 times but still haven't finish trying out all the food there cos there's too many types to choose from.
Have tried their tempura, BBQ eel on hot plate, waffle, rosti, salmon soup and grilled chicken with omelette rice, all are not bad but my favourite there so far is their pizza, tebasaki and crepe with ice cream!
One advice for all, dun order all the food you wanna eat at 1 go cos by the time you collected all and sit down to eat, the food will be cold and not so nice. Best is to order 1-2 items 1st, finished them and scout for more again. Must save some space for their crepe with ice cream too!

Morton's Steakhouse
Been there to celebrate my best friend's birthday, and was very impressed by their service there! They specially prepared a set of menu for us with my friend's name on it, wishing her happy birthday!
Their staffs are very warm and friendly too! When we can't decide on what to order, they actually bring the whole tray of meat, slowly explained to us the difference in size and texture.
Their portion are super big so we decide to order 1 USDA steak, 1 Australia steak and 1 tuna to share, top up with oyster for starter, creamed spinach & mushroom for sides and souffle & chocolate cake for desserts.
The oysters are big and fresh, we couldn't resist attacking it once it's served so only managed to take a picture of the shell, sorry!
Their USDA steak is superb but we dun really like their australia steak because of the strong taste.
My friends find the tuna nice but I dun really like it cos it's a bit overcooked for me. I normally like my steak medium rare, salmon and tuna medium done, as I find them a bit too dry and tough if it's overcooked.
Their mushroom is good but the creamed spinach is not as good as Lawry's one.
Their chocolate cake is heavenly, lemon souffle is nice and fluffy but the chocolate souffle is not as good as the lemon 1 though.
When we are enjoying our dinner, there was 4 foreigners sitting at a table next to us, and 1 of them was having a totally RAW steak, red & bloody! I can imagine eating a thin slice of raw beef, but a whole big chunk of it.... eh....

Been there a few times and is one of my favourite steak place. The steak are nice and tender and their cream spinach is superb too. Their price has gone up over the years but it still a nice place to go to especially on special occasion like birthday. If you inform them that there is a birthday gal/boy among you, they will bring out a complimentary cake and sing a birthday song for you too!

I've been to this place quite a few times before their renovation but haven't been there yet ever since after they renovated. Wonder if their standard has drop.
I always love their butter crab and their crab beehoon soup. I always order male crab for the butter crab as male crab meat is more fleshy and juicy. For the crab beehoon soup it doesn't matter as all the taste of the crab will go into the soup, so if you want to have better taste just dip the crab meat in the butter sauce. I always order medium size crab as big size crab meat is more tough and small size one has lesser meat. As for the man tou must ask them to serve after the butter crab is served so it will be warm. I always clean off the butter sauce with the man tou. Slurp!

Are they franchise or under the same boss? Cos I've tried Aston Express at Ang Mo Kio and Serangoon garden outlets, still prefer the one at Serangoon garden cos they charcoal grilled the chicken better and every fri and sat they sell their burgandy roast at a special rate of $20+ but the one at AMK dun have the same promo.

I've been to the crazy ang mo at bukit batok recently, the cashier was quite unfriendly and the deep fried chicken wings was not good, it seems that they never change the oil for quite some time.

I brought the bowl to the counter and told the staffs about it, but the reaction that they gave me was like it was quite common, they did say sorry but they never give us any assurance that they will look into it to improve their hygiene, that's why we never go back to that place again.

I've tried the one at depot road a few years ago and the laksa was really very nice, gravy was very thick and tasty, but the one at Vivo city was a bt diluted. So sad that the auntie no longer selling the authentic one.

I've tried the one at vivo before, taste is ok, but as we found a baby coakroach inside one of the bowl after we almost finished the food, it killed our appetite.
