Actually, I read about this place over the weekend, and wanted to try out the food here on Saturday, but turn out the place was full. So today we decided to check out the food here again.
When we were there around 7+pm today, the place was just half full. The place is actually quite small, with probably couple of tables to sit around 20 person. This place not only sells Penang food, but also like a mini mart that sells Penang food stuff.
Given there's only 2 of us, and there's so many we wanted to try, but can only eat so much, I end up ordering a char kway teow ($7.90), while my friend ordered a penang laksa ($7.90). We also ordered a fruit rojak ($7.50) to share. I also ordered a nutmeg lime juice ($2.90) since I've never tried it before in my life! I also ended my dinner with an ice kacang ($3.90). There's no GST at this place, just service charge, and total bill came up to $33.11.
As I don't really like penang assam, so I'm not sure if that is nice, but I pretty like my char kway teow. The char kway teow is fragrant, and I really like the taste. No, there's no cockles, but it comes with eggs, chinese sausages, and prawns.
As for the rojak, I pretty like the rojak. No you tiao, no tau pok, but just fruits. You have apple, starfruit, pineapple, mango, cucumber and mangkwang (not sure if I miss out any other fruits). I like the rojak sauce cos it is spicy and sweet :P
As for the nutmeg lime, well, I think I'm not really into the drink though. I'll probably try something else next time round. As for the ice kacang, the difference compare to the usual local ones is it comes with sago. If I remember correctly, there's also condense milk or corn too, but it comes with fruits (those from the can I think) like grapes, peach, etc.
Overall, I think the food here is pretty nice, except might be on a slightly pricey side though, more expensive than hawker centre, cheaper than restaurant. I'm definitely going back soon to try out their belachan chicken wings!
PS: This place only accepts cash

heh...we're back again at Penang Kitchen... actually, we were planning to go to the Adam Road Food Centre instead, but it was closed, so we decided to drop by this place again.
The place was a bit quiet on a Monday evening though. We finally managed to order the fried curry fish delight ($13.90), and also ordered a egg fuyong ($8.50) as well. Total bill include rice and drinks came up to $31.24.
Ok... $8.50 is probably one of the most expensive egg omelette I've eaten, but to be fair, the egg came with quite a few prawns though, but still, I think it is still on the pricey side. As for the fried curry fish delight, personally, I pretty like it. The fish is actually fried before it is cooked in the curry. My friend says authentic Penang though...hahaaha... but nevertheless, I pretty enjoy it.
Overall, other than it is slightly on the pricey side, the food as usually is pretty good.
After trying pretty much of their dishes, I think my personal favourite is probably their char kway teow. :)

My friend seems to love this place. We've been coming to this place once a week, for the consecutive 3 weeks. :)
Wanted to try this curry fish delight today, but was sold out. Ended up my friend ordered the char kway teow, while I try out the Penang bee hoon mee. We also ordered a mango salad to share, and of cos, I ordered my favourite belachan chicken wing. :)
The bee hoon mee is quite nice, sort of taste a bit like the malaysia black hokkien mee style or something. Comes with fish and prawn. The fish was quite nice actually. As for the mango salad, if ya like ya mango sour, this might suit ya taste. Actually, it taste a bit sour at first to me, but after awhile when I got used to the sour taste, it actually tasted pretty good.

Not often I go back to the same place within a short span of 1 week for dinner, and this one is one of them :)
Actually, we wanted to come back here much earlier, but last week was bad, and we ended up only able to go back today.
As in my previous review, I said I'll be going back for the belachan chicken wing, so of cos, that's one of the order today. We're recommended to take the 2 in 1 sampler ($12.50) instead, which comes with the lor bak if we planning to order that as well, as it was more worthwhile. Given my friend wanted to try the lor bak, we order that. After that, I ordered the herbal duck mee sua ($9.50) while my friend ordered the penang prawn mee ($7.90). For drinks, I ordered a kalamansi with barley ($2.90), while my friend ordered a normal home made barley ($2.50). Total bill came up to $38.83.
For the kalamansi with barley, the taste is mainly kalamansi, which pretty cover the barley taste (you only get very slight barley taste), but you get the thickness of barley. Pretty interesting mixture.
Then came my herbal duck mee sua. The mee sua is pretty nice actually, and you get your typical herbal soup with a slight bitter taste. Ya get a full drum stick as well. As for the prawn noodle, I tried the soup, and it was pretty good and is spicy, which I like :) . Finally, came my chicken wings and lor bak. The chicken wings is pretty tasty especially when it is hot. Chicken wing lovers might want to give this a try. As for the lor bak, though I'm not quite a fan of lor bak, it is actually quite nice.
Overall, I feel the food here is pretty good, except just a little pricey though.
My friend is already planning to go back again for the curry fish :)

I've never been to Chinatown food centre or Albert Street Temporary food centre so can't compare. Yup, it's "song fish head" steam with tau see style, and I love the pork lard on it, very crispy. ^o^

How is the fish steam head compared to the ones at Chinatown food centre or there's another stall in Albert Street Temporary food centre? The steam fish head is "song fish head" steam with tau see style?

Overall plus the cendol. I like the sauce but the crushed peanuts spoiled it and the fried stuffs too plain.
