No Signboard Seafood Restaurant @ Vivocity

Posted by CyberTron on Aug 24, 2008 12:36AM
Came here for dinner to celebrate my god mother birthday today as she wanted seafood. So decided to choose here as it was more convenient.

We ordered 2 crabs ($94 total, one white pepper, one chilli), 2 bull frogs cooked in onion and ginger ($24, $12 per frog, min 2), cereal prawn ($20) and a garlic fried vege ($10). Overall, the total bill came up to $190.35.

Food wise, I find it not too bad. I'm actually surprised the plate of bull frog is pretty big, cos remember everytime going for frog porridge, the amount of frog seems to be quite pathetic. My favourite dish there is usually either the cereal prawn or cereal crayfish. Usually I will go for the crayfish, but since there were only 3 of us, and we already have 2 crab, decided to just order the prawn instead.

Crab wise, the crab is meaty, as what sri lanka crab are usually. If not wrong, no signboard is more well known for their white pepper crab. Personally, as long as crab, I usually like...hahaha

Overall, I think the food here is decent, but price wise, I think is on the high side though.

PS. If you are holding on to one of those old green colour No Signboard VIP card, these are no longer valid anymore.

Talking about the deco, my god mother says the this outlet a bit wierd. It has like a black theme, and the deco looks like from dracula movie like that...hahaha... On one side of the wall, it have these collection of big "artwork" showing different kind of seafood like crab, fish, etc.

I felt the price at no signboard has risen quite a bit over recent years. I'm not sure if the price btw outlets are consistent, but last time, I can have crab, crayfish, etc, and usually we end up around $40+ per pax. Yesterday was around $60+ per pax.

I go no signboard only when someone treat and I dun have a choice on the location, or I want to eat crab at a convenient location... hahahah

For the white pepper crab.... one thing is that when the crab is served, it got a very "pungent" smell, which might turn people off, but once u eat it, is actually very good... though I still prefer eng seng black pepper crab even though it is not as nice as it used to be.

I've never been to Chinatown food centre or Albert Street Temporary food centre so can't compare. Yup, it's "song fish head" steam with tau see style, and I love the pork lard on it, very crispy. ^o^

Overall plus the cendol. I like the sauce but the crushed peanuts spoiled it and the fried stuffs too plain.
