Most high tech bak kut teh in Singapore?
If one google about this legendary bak kut teh stall, one will bring up couple of interesting "stories".
Quote from asiaone website :
This is the BKT stall which turned down Mr Donald Tsang's request for a bowl of the fragrant soup. Another local satirical site claims it kicked out Mr Thaksin Shinawatra after a disagreement over a bowl of innards
Interestingly, this bak kut teh is also blogged by a blogger on CNET Asia about its computerisation. Yeah... the waitress who took my order uses a PDA.... the first bak kut teh I've come across that high tech...hahahaha
When I arrive at the place (about 5min walk from farrer park mrt), around 12+, the place was already quite crowded. Tuck at one end the laid back rangoon road, you'll be surprised how many people head there for the bak kut teh.
Though the place was pack, the auntie did not take long to get me a seat. Immediately, she whip out her PDA and start taking my orders.
I ordered a pork rib soup ($5.50), pig's skin($2 ... ok.. I know it is sinful), you tiao ($2), and rice ($0.70 - big).
Interesting on the bill, noticed there's "Add Soup - 0.00". Overall, including towel and drinks, the bill came up to $11.90, which is quite ok considering the amount of food I ordered. However, they do not have bean curd skin at this place.
The bak kut teh here is the peppery soup kind. Though it is supposed to be peppery, the soup color is actually brown, which looks like the klang herbal kind. The soup I can say is real peppery!! You can taste the amount of pepper ground to make this soup! So it might be a hit or miss for some, as some might find it too peppery. As for me, the ultra peppery soup really seems to make my cough and running nose (from all the raining these couple of days) feels better after the bak kut teh. :P The pork rib was also quite tender as well, and you get 3 pieces of pork ribs.
So if you have not check out this bak kut teh, you might want to drop by one of these days and find out what's all the hype about this place. For this place, I'll give it a 3.5 star.
PS. This place supposedly only open till lunch time. Does anyone knows if the Heng Heng Bak Kut Teh at Owen Road has moved or something?

This BKT is the best in the world
why i say this is because when the soup enter my mouth i feel so syok!
phew...I think the price is worth it.
and the service is good and workers are really friendly..
I recommend people to try this BKT
ohh...and about the turned down of Mr Donald Tsang's request I don't think The Bkt is to blame..I heard that at that very last moment when Mr Donald arrived they have no BKT left..I mean if Mr Donald was served then i think it's not fair for other's like if others came at the very last moment they won't served them too rite? i would give this BKT the rating of 5 Stars.

Can't compare to Sultan Gate cos they Klang style...but if ya compare to the peppery ones, I think the pepper taste is a bit different.
As for the tiong bahru one...my colleague who leaves nearby says she actually prefer the claypot bkt in the market than the old tiong bahru one... hahahaha
Now I just have to find the chance to try out the Heng Heng one next :)

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.

I'm not sure exactly where the original Leong Kee moved to, but I believe the one at Sultan Gate is still there. I also saw one at junction of Jln Besar and Hindoo road. Just at the junction before beancurd city

hi!
The bak kut teh at this place is Klang style. If you refering to the peppery style Bak Kut Teh you typically find in Singapore, then this is not the place for you.
For the peppery style one, the famous ones are probably ones are Balestier Road or the one at Tanjong Pagar complex. For me, I usually just go to Song Fa at Rochor which is decent for me, and more convenient as well.

I don't remember if i'd ever come across cheap and nice seafood in KL...I suggest you to plan a trip to Sabah, that's really what I call heaven for seafood lovers. ;-)
