I'm not quite a fan of fish head steamboat, and the one of the few fish head steamboat I ever went was the famous Whampoa one. I happen to chance upon this place on one of the days I was on my way back from dinner at Golden Mile, and saw this place which was so crowded with people, with tables lying all the way to the side of the road of jalan sultan, I told myself I need to check this place. Located right at the junction of jalan sultan and north bridge road, this place seems pretty quiet at night except for this shop.
When we were there around late 7+, the place was full, but luckily, we manage to find a seat pretty fast. Quickly, we ordered a fish head steamboat (石斑 - $35), kai lan ($8) and prawn paste chicken ($8). Even though the place is crowded, the uncle taking the order was very patient, not rushing and very friendly. I also ordered the barley which was pretty thick, and nice :).
We did have to wait quite awhile for the food, given the number of people there, but everyone all pretty waiting for their food to serve patiently. First dish to serve was the kai lan was pretty normal (well, can't think how much better it could be though), while the prawn paste chicken was pretty tasty. Finally, the fish head steamboat was served. Personally, I think it is pretty good, and my friend commented not fishy taste too and the fish was very fresh. The portion is very big (uncle did mention for that fish, the minimum was $35), which probably sufficient for 4 person to share. It came with pieces of yam, sea weed and vege, as well the piece of fried flat fish. Personally, I think it is as good as the Whampoa one. Good thing, here though is crowded, there's lots of people around to serve the customers there. Oh btw, they also allow you to refill your soup for free too!
Total bill, inclusive of 2 rice and towels (exclude drinks), the bill came up to $52.40. Overall, I think the food here is pretty good, and the price is definitely reasonable. I would give this a 3.5 star for value for money, and all the people there seems to be very friendly too.
So for all the fish head steamboat fan, let me know if you prefer this or the Whampoa one, since it has been quite awhile since I been to the Whampoa one.
PS. We noticed another restaurant that's opened diagonally across that shares the same name except the missing 亚秋 in the signboard. When we asked the uncle if that shop is related, he said no...hmm....

My last 2 trips there this year was kinda disappointing as well. First time, somewhere near CNY, a lot of seafood was sold out, even the beer! Thought cos we were there late, so the next time we decided to get there earlier, and this time, the crab where sold out!
Service was also very slow and not enuff people to serve the customers.
Food wise, I think price is still ok, but I think the food is not longer as good as when it was less well known.... planning to try senibong next round...

Have not been to Jogoya before, but I've been to the Gonbei opposite. Priced similarly to Jogoya if not wrong, and I thought the service and food was pretty good.

I went with 7 adults and 1 kid, we spent less than $120. I would safely hazard a guess of $18 - $25 per person, depending on how hungry you get. Real value for money for quality food.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.
