Mr Bean's Cafe

Posted by CyberTron on Mar 31, 2009 11:27PM
Walked past this place a couple of times, but never have a chance to try out the food here. If not wrong, there's some positive reviews on this place online. I decided to order the dinner set ($16.80), which came with soup of the day, main course, dessert and drinks. I top up $1 for an orange juice. Total bill inclusive of tax and service charge came up to $20.95.

Soup of the day was corn soup. I find it a bit watery, and the garlic bread came with it was a bit hard. Taste not too bad when dip into the soup before eaten. For the mains, you have a choice of either a grilled fish, steak, chicken chop and spaghetti. I went for the grilledfish. Portion of the fish was not very big, and I did not like the sauce as it has a minty taste, and I don't like to eat mint. The fish itself was so so, can't say it is very fresh though. Dessert of the day was a scoop of chocolate ice cream.

Overall, the food here is just average, and price wise is average as well. This place supposed to open till quite late for supper as well, so all those looking for late night supper might want to check out this place.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.

I'm not sure exactly where the original Leong Kee moved to, but I believe the one at Sultan Gate is still there. I also saw one at junction of Jln Besar and Hindoo road. Just at the junction before beancurd city

hi! The bak kut teh at this place is Klang style. If you refering to the peppery style Bak Kut Teh you typically find in Singapore, then this is not the place for you. For the peppery style one, the famous ones are probably ones are Balestier Road or the one at Tanjong Pagar complex. For me, I usually just go to Song Fa at Rochor which is decent for me, and more convenient as well.
