Loong Fatt Eating House and Confectionary @ Balestier Road (right corner shop)

The best tau sar piah that i tried in Singapore. If you are thinking of getting some new year goodies, or local delights to give your friends from overseas, do check out the pastries here. I personally liked the salty tau sar piah, the sweet one is not bad and has sesame on top. the tau sar piah is round and flat, the skin is soft, not too thick...the filling is soft and yummy... you can't stop at one...

Be prepared to queue for a while though, but you will be guaranteed the pastries are definitely fresh and only just minutes out of the oven... while waiting, check out the working crew in the kitchen and observe the making of the tau sar piah...keke...

And do not go too late too as they sold out pretty early...could be as early as 4pm...

My last 2 trips there this year was kinda disappointing as well. First time, somewhere near CNY, a lot of seafood was sold out, even the beer! Thought cos we were there late, so the next time we decided to get there earlier, and this time, the crab where sold out! Service was also very slow and not enuff people to serve the customers. Food wise, I think price is still ok, but I think the food is not longer as good as when it was less well known.... planning to try senibong next round...

Have not been to Jogoya before, but I've been to the Gonbei opposite. Priced similarly to Jogoya if not wrong, and I thought the service and food was pretty good.

I went with 7 adults and 1 kid, we spent less than $120. I would safely hazard a guess of $18 - $25 per person, depending on how hungry you get. Real value for money for quality food.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.
