As my friend has to go to funan to buy something, we decided to pop by here for dinner after that, as it was just walking distance from Funan. It is located directly opposite Central, few shops beside the Song Fa Bak Kut Teh.
We ordered the claypot rice, which was recommended, as well as a minced chilli fish head and salted vege with duck soup.
Some of the bowls that were used are those porcelain (I think) bowls with the nostalagic rooster picture. Uncle there was very friendly, and said these bowls can be hard to find replacements, and have to replace with originary white ones. Throughout the whole dinner, he on and off explained the ingredients used for the dishes.
First dish that came was the claypot rice. At $7.80, the claypot rice is smaller than the normal ones u get like from Golden Mile or Clementi, but is sufficient for 2 person. You get around 3 bowls of rice. The auntie and uncle there explained the rice they used they are called basmati rice from Parkistan, which is supposed to be double the price of normal price, and the rice they used are in small packets, which he showed us readily when we asked him how to spell it. :) My friend felt the claypot rice actually taste better than the Clementi one which she previously swear by it as the best!
(Wikipedia : Basmati (IAST: bāsmatī, Urdu: باسمتى) is a variety of long grain rice, famous for its fragrance and delicate flavour. Its name means "the fragrant one" in Urdu, but it can also mean the "soft rice." Pakistan is the largest cultivators and exporters of this rice - primarily grown through paddy field farming.)
Next came the mince chilli fish head ($20). The mince chilli fish supposed to be cooked with 7 types of vege, inclusive of the normal sweet potato, purple sweet potato, carrot, etc. I find the fish head was fresh, and pretty good, though I though the portion might be a bit too big for the 2 of us, but nevertheless, I finish it all :P
Finally came the salted vege and duck soup. Supposedly, the salted vege used are from thailand, and not those from China, which supposedly comes in small packs and are more expensive. I found the soup pretty good, and not too salty, but yet very tasty! I like the duck, and though the skin might be fat (i like!), the soup was not oily, which was good.
Total damage for the whole dinner was $43.10, which I think was pretty reasonable, and food was pretty good as well.
BTW, there's supposed to be NO GST, service charge, MSG, articial coloring, etc. :)

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.

I'm not sure exactly where the original Leong Kee moved to, but I believe the one at Sultan Gate is still there. I also saw one at junction of Jln Besar and Hindoo road. Just at the junction before beancurd city

hi!
The bak kut teh at this place is Klang style. If you refering to the peppery style Bak Kut Teh you typically find in Singapore, then this is not the place for you.
For the peppery style one, the famous ones are probably ones are Balestier Road or the one at Tanjong Pagar complex. For me, I usually just go to Song Fa at Rochor which is decent for me, and more convenient as well.
