Soba So Good - Ichiban Boshi
Yesterday we initially decided on another place for our meal, but as we wandered past the rows of vibrant & hip eating places at the basement of Suntec, we were intrigued by the sign "Soba So Good" at Ichiban Boshi.
To me at least, there was at least one other place that could truly claim to serve good quality soba, and I didn't know Ichiban could dish up something good. Afterall, it's always been kinda like those Sakae sushi chain places, I thought.
I was quite pleasantly surprised by the set meals there. I ordered the Oyako Soba Set and was amazed at the quantity of food that came with it. The huge, steaming bowl of soba you see in the pic wasn't for show. It was really full of noodles and tasty soup stock, as well as huge chunks of chicken and egg.
It also came with salmon sashimi (pretty fresh and thick slices), prawn and vegie tempura and chawan mushi. The latter was quite a letdown after the fragrant ones I've tried at Sushi Tei but for the price - $20.90 (if I recall correctly), it was value for money. And it was pretty acceptable quality if you ask me.
I also ordered the ikura sushi (a must!) and it didn't disappoint. Their ikura was fresh and of relatively good quality. I also tried the Hokkaido Roll (I think), which was sushi rice and cheese, topped with crab (real crab, Not the fake kani nonsense) and corn mayo. It's quite unique, if not authentic Japanese.
My companions wiped their plates clean too. I forgot to take pics of their food because I was too busy indulging. Enjoy! Oh, and don't forget to order the Peach Delight, which is peach and calamansi juice, served with crushed ice and 2 slices of peaches. Great for quenching your thirst on a hot day.

the one at esplanade is nice too... esp the sofa seat near the conveyer belt. the sushi that had cheese and salmon was good. prices are very reasonable compared to sushi tei... set meals were good too! should try!

You're right about Waraku. The food is decent but I get confused because there're just too many choices & it takes me a long time to decide on something :P

Feel ichiban boshi pretty decent, is probably like Waraku, which serve pretty good food at pretty reasonable price too. Anytime I'll choose this or Waraku over Sushi Tei or Sakae Sushi. I find Waraku menu has just too many selections which gives me a headache what to choose when I can only see that much :P

I've never been to Chinatown food centre or Albert Street Temporary food centre so can't compare. Yup, it's "song fish head" steam with tau see style, and I love the pork lard on it, very crispy. ^o^

How is the fish steam head compared to the ones at Chinatown food centre or there's another stall in Albert Street Temporary food centre? The steam fish head is "song fish head" steam with tau see style?

I went to the tony roma's in singapore suntec city, the ribs is very nice & tender and the chocolate dessert is sinful! Dun like the corn soup though.

Overall plus the cendol. I like the sauce but the crushed peanuts spoiled it and the fried stuffs too plain.
