I think cos ya da bao that's why the mee goreng is a bit soggy... is chinese style...so best eat while it is hot at the place :)

CyberTron, as promised to provide the verdict on the black pepper crabs and mee goreng :)...ate it last week. I called to make my order and the lady is very polite and friendly. One word to describe about the pepper crabs - YUMMY! The crabs were meaty and there was lots of black pepper sauce. As for the mee goreng, I find it so-so as the noodles were a bit soggy. But it had lots of ingredients (prawns, sotong, eggs) in the noodles and quite worth for the price of SGD5 (small pack)

Oh...btw, heard now on weekends, 5pm people already start eating already....I believe they open around 430pm on weekends now...

When I moved to my current home around Still Road around 15 ago, that place started with people eating chilli crab and then slowly the pepper crab overtook the chilli ones, and now, I dun think many peoples order chilli crabs from there anymore. :)

My standard order there is usually mee goreng (if still have), lemon chicken, you tiao, kang kong and maybe a claypot toufu.

Their mee goreng supposedly also sell like hot cakes too.... usually run out earlier than the crab.

Read recently 2 cook from Eng Seng left and setup their own at Yio Chu Kang there. Some say the "cooks" that left are not the one in charge of cooking the crab at Eng Seng, so might want to check that out as well :)

I've never been to Chinatown food centre or Albert Street Temporary food centre so can't compare. Yup, it's "song fish head" steam with tau see style, and I love the pork lard on it, very crispy. ^o^

Overall plus the cendol. I like the sauce but the crushed peanuts spoiled it and the fried stuffs too plain.
