Cai Ji Boneless Duck Rice Porridge 财记起骨鸭饭粥

Posted by CyberTron on Jan 17, 2009 10:57AM
Came here for dinner last night and my friend highly recommended this stall. According to her, this stall usually have very long queue during lunch time. When we were there around 7pm yesterday, there wasn't any queue though.

I ordered the braised duck (2 person portion), one egg and one toufu, and one plate of yam rice. Total came up to $8.60.

The duck is not bad, but not as tender as some that I've tried before, and the meat is a little dry though. I prefer my duck to be tender. As for tha yam rice, is also a bit hard, but for those people who likes to eat their rice hard might like this. Portion wise, actually, I find the duck is a bit little, considering I ordered a 2 person portion, which I actually finish all by myself. :)

Overall, the duck rice here is not bad, but not exceptional though. I won't say it is expensive, probably just reasonable.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.

I'm not sure exactly where the original Leong Kee moved to, but I believe the one at Sultan Gate is still there. I also saw one at junction of Jln Besar and Hindoo road. Just at the junction before beancurd city

hi! The bak kut teh at this place is Klang style. If you refering to the peppery style Bak Kut Teh you typically find in Singapore, then this is not the place for you. For the peppery style one, the famous ones are probably ones are Balestier Road or the one at Tanjong Pagar complex. For me, I usually just go to Song Fa at Rochor which is decent for me, and more convenient as well.
