Albert Street Hokkien Big Prawn Mee @ Lavender Food Square

Posted by CyberTron on Nov 09, 2008 10:45PM
Happen to be around this area on Friday, and decided to have the prawn noodle here. I've been to another stall at Old Airport Road with the same name, so I assume this should be related. Difference is the prawn noodle here is only $3 , $4 and $5. It does not have bigger prawns $8, $10 like the one at Old Airport Road.

I ordered the $5 portion with thick bee hoon. Somehow, I find the prawn noodle here is not as good as the Old Airport Road though. The soup isn't as tasty I feel. Overall, would rate the prawn noodle here just average.

My last 2 trips there this year was kinda disappointing as well. First time, somewhere near CNY, a lot of seafood was sold out, even the beer! Thought cos we were there late, so the next time we decided to get there earlier, and this time, the crab where sold out! Service was also very slow and not enuff people to serve the customers. Food wise, I think price is still ok, but I think the food is not longer as good as when it was less well known.... planning to try senibong next round...

Have not been to Jogoya before, but I've been to the Gonbei opposite. Priced similarly to Jogoya if not wrong, and I thought the service and food was pretty good.

I went with 7 adults and 1 kid, we spent less than $120. I would safely hazard a guess of $18 - $25 per person, depending on how hungry you get. Real value for money for quality food.

Is diagonally opposite Jogoya. Supposedly the quality is better than Jogoya. Price wise, if we convert currency, then Malaysia is cheaper. If we do not convert currency, then Singapore is cheaper. Generally, a japanese buffet in Siingapore is around SGD30+ range.
